Responsibilities will include:
As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare individual, business and partnership tax returns; assist in audit, review and compilation engagements; review payroll and sales tax returns and research complex tax scenarios. Our approach means you will collaborate with and learn from experienced team members.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
· Attention to detail
· Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
· Ability to evaluate, identify and execute proposed solutions to problems
· Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
· Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), experience with CCH Axcess or ProSystem fx desired
· Flexible work schedule required January – April with required overtime

Education, Training &/or Certification:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
· Sufficient credits to sit for CPA exam

Senior Tax Accountants are vital members of our tax practice. As a Senior, you will prepare a variety of individual, business, fiduciary and partnership tax returns along with supporting our clients via tax planning, projections, and research of complex tax-related issues.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Data entry in various software applications
  • Create and maintain client files;Scan client data
  • Process tax organizers, tax returns, financial statements and other client communications
  • Other general office duties as needed.

Job description

Brantley Janson, a leading local Certified Public Accounting and advisory firm is looking for an experienced bookkeeper with solid QuickBooks knowledge and excellent communication skills. The ability to manage deadlines while working directly with multiple clients in various industries with a variety of accounting issues is required. The ideal candidate is a positive team player who is excited about client bookkeeping support as we work together to exceed client expectations.

Duties include:
• Performs all duties associated with full charge bookkeeping and financial reporting, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll.
• Prepares Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and other financial documents.
• Records financial transactions in accounting software.
• Maintains monthly general ledgers including chart of accounts and subsidiary ledgers.
• Reconciles bank accounts and other general ledger accounts to sub ledger balances or other supporting documentation.
• Prepares and enters journal entries as needed, including depreciation, amortization and payroll journal entries.
• Processes accounts payable for multiple clients.
• Processes payroll and makes deposits for multiple clients
• Organizes after-the-fact accounting and payroll records provided by clients.
• Prepares payroll tax returns including federal returns and state withholding and unemployment returns; Prepares sales tax returns; Prepares year end payroll and accounts payable information returns (W2/W3, 1099/1096).

Qualifications:
• Ability to anticipate the needs of clients by using effective problem solving skills.
• Ability to balance multiple projects, organize and prioritize work within a budget.
• Excellent customer service skills; ability to communicate clearly with a variety of people.
• Ability to support time-based requests; able to function effectively in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment with deadlines and frequent interruptions
• 3 years accounting experience; 2 year accounting/bookkeeping degree a plus
• Consulting or CPA Firm experience preferred or equivalent experience with multiple concurrent clients
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks (desktop and on-line)

Competitive Salary and generous benefits

At Brantley Janson, tax interns will be working on preparing individual tax returns for our wide variety of clients. You will be working directly with our partners and given the opportunity to communicate directly with clients. Our firm promotes team work and an environment that will help you learn and become a valued asset to any CPA firm. This will be a 10-12 week program that will allow you to perform work at the first year staff level in a public accounting firm. It will consist of 2 weeks of training by our tax department, which will enable you to accurately prepare tax returns following our procedures, and the opportunity to prepare many different types of individual tax returns for the remainder of the season. The ideal candidate will be able to work 20-30 hours a week, have a strong work ethic, enthusiasm to learn, and fit in well as a member of the Brantley Janson team.

Interns serve clients by
• Completing tax planning and research
• Preparing federal and state & local tax returns
• Understanding tax regulations and accounting pronouncements

Basic qualifications for an intern position include:
• Working towards or completed a B.A./ B.S. degree in Accounting
• Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
• Ability to work at least 20 hours per week during regular business hours
